Update:  Mr Gray's rescuer found him a great home!  We are so happy to report the good news, and appreciate what his rescuer did for him.  We wish her and Mr. Gray and his new family all the best!

Mr Gray was abandoned following a hurricane and joined a small band of other abandoned and feral cats in an area near a building where a kind senior woman worked for 10+ years. The current property owner liked having the cats around because they kept the mice population down and never caused any property damage.

One day while feeding the cats the woman noticed one of the cats (now Mr. Gray) had an urgent issue with his left eye, so she took him to a vet, and they removed the injured eye. The woman was told she saved his life!  She took him home to recuperate before returning him to the others in the group and named him Mr. Gray.

When the woman returned to the site with Mr. Gray, she was told there was a new property owner who wanted nothing to do with the cats.  She was concerned the cats might be poisoned or run over, so she agreed not to return, and to this date is stil caring for Mr. Gray.

Mr. Gray was found to be in good health, except that he tested FIV positive. (It is a viral, not so contagious disease spread to other cats via saliva to blood and or blood to blood.  Cats with FIV have an compromised immune system, but can still live full lives.)

Since his rescuer is the only human he sees regularly, Mr Gray stays very close to her feet and watches her every move; however, she can’t risk taking a fall at her 78 years.  She hadn’t planed to keep Mr. Gray when she rescued him, but was trying to do the right thing and save his life.

Although Mr. Gray’s eyesight is somewhat impaired from the eye removal, and he's a little hard of hearing, he is very affectionate and deserves a good home with others like him, meaning FIV+ cats.  He'd do fine on his own with his person though, and will give them a lot of attention.  He still acts like a kitten says his rescuer.  He's an active guy.

Please call (561) 784-4792 for more information or to meet Mr. Gray.  Please do not e-mail or call A.R.F. about Mr. Gray as he is not in our care.  We are just trying to help him and his rescuer!  Mr. Gray deserves a nice loving indoor home after all the years outdoors in the harse Florida environment.
